About Phil Roberts

He is a young man whose name, and face, is today almost everywhere in the entertainment landscape of the Federal Capital Territory; and no doubt there is a reason for that. Seeing him on stage is like an evening encounter with a rock star at his very best. He sings, he screams, and he sobs out his message with palpable evangelistic energy. He stands, he struts, he squats, and he soars in a palpable Christian charismatic presence. Welcome to the Phil Roberts show! His epithet The Rock Ambassador is becoming more popular by the day, but sounds more like a contradiction to the gospel that he preaches through music. But he insists that, “Our vision is to raise Godly music ministers with fire in every of their lyrics poised to raise the dead through music.”Perhaps that fire could only be kindled via his fiery brand of gospel, which seems to resonate with the youths he ministers to – and, yes, makes sense to them too. As a young undergraduate of Mechanical Engineering, Phil Roberts went to and fro the oil rich cities of Niger Delta region in Nigeria ministering to the then despondent youths of the region. He used his then Gold Music Band as a training ground for upcoming music artistes; developed talent hunt events for the boys in the streets as a means of shunning cultism and kidnapping; and encouraged them to learn a musical instrument to upgrade their love for music. Then, when he moved to Abuja after obtaining his graduate degree, he created The Shine Project though which he embarked on a musical tour to a couple of Nigerian cities starting from the FCT; featuring live worship recording concerts and performances, while featuring ace Gospel acts and comedians. The tracks in his debut album, Da Shine Project, where he featured prominent gospel acts like Asu Ekiye, Samsong, Montel Field (from USA) and Msita Wyclf (from Kenya); include Mighty God, Ebube, Lifter of my Hands, Lord lift me up, Faithful God, Miracle Song, Shine shine bobo, My Testimony, My mama.
