About Skailey Mental

His stage name is Skailey Mental but he was born and named Adeyemi Lawal. A hip hop act, he talks about his career. I was born in Ibadan, Oyo State. I am the firstborn in a family of four and I attended Apostolic Church Primary School, Ebute-Meta and Ago Egba High School, Ebute-meta. Afterwards, I proceeded to Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka but later crossed over to the University of Lagos, where I studied Theatre Arts. As a child, I grew up watching my father listen to songs from King Sunny Ade, Marvin Gay, Orlando Owoh and Haruna Ishola. These songs inspired me and I started as a learning Disc Jockey under the tutelage of DJ Midas of Rhythm FM. Later, I became a back-up singer for Yinka Davies; after which I started working on my own songs.
