About Freestyle

Freestyle is Mfon Essien’s extroverted alter ego. A songwriter, producer, recording &performing artiste as well as an entrepreneur. The fifth born and second son in a family of 8, both parents inclusive. Freestyle (born Mfon Essien) could mimic the styles of many rappers, often switching tones several times on one track: speaking pidgin here and smooth english there, always lighthearted and precise in his delivery. Sunny Neji featured him on two tracks in his hit album ‘Unchained’ and the brother still delivered, on a highlife album. Freestyle was the first member of Trybesmen to release an album titled ‘Free At Last’ which had a good number of hits including the massively popular dance track ‘OK’,‘Sip Easy’ featuring 2face, ‘Bragging Rights’ featuring Blaise, ‘Omo Ele’ featuring Sasha & C-mione and a few others which earned him the Hiphop World Award for Best Rap Album and massive airplay on radio.
